Production and sustainability

We manufacture our products entirely in Europe. We rely on high-quality materials and careful workmanship to offer our customers first-class products. Here you can find out more about our production sites, the materials we use and our intensive quality controls.

Production sites: Black Forest and Lithuania

The Black Forest is a traditional location for brush production, and our interdental brushes are also manufactured there. Right from the start, we have been working with a family business that has many years of experience in brush production. The brushes are carefully turned on site and then glued into the handles in a fully automated process.

The handles of our brushes are produced in Lithuania. All manual work that cannot be carried out by machine also takes place there.

Materials used

We are gradually converting our production and packaging materials to more sustainable alternatives. In doing so, we have to find a compromise between the highest quality, medical hygiene requirements and sustainable solutions. Our bristles are made from castor oil, a renewable and natural material. The handles of our products are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomers). This material does not contain any harmful plasticizers, which is why it is particularly suitable for the production of hygiene products. We pack SOLO-STIX in blister packs for hygienic reasons. We are also working on making this packaging more sustainable. The Praxispack blister packs are already made from 80% recycled material. We have already switched to recycled paper packaging for some products and our filling material for the packs (flow pack) is compostable.

Highest quality standards

We are proud that our products meet the highest quality standards. Each production step is subject to comprehensive quality assurance. In order to meet even stricter standards, we subject SOLO-STIX interdental brushes to more extensive quality controls than prescribed by the interdental brush standard (DIN ISO 16 409).

For example, we only accept a deviation of + 0.1 mm in the size of the brush heads, while + 0.2 mm is the officially approved deviation tolerance. The durability of the bristles is not only tested with the prescribed 80 movements, but we strive for at least 4 times the durability value (320 movements). We also set higher standards for the breaking strength of the wire and test the stability of the wire with over 800 movements. In addition, we test the pull-out force of the brush from the handle with double the value (30 N), which corresponds to the weight of 3 milk cartons, whereas officially only 15 Newtons are required.
